BLOOMING FLOWERS
We were looking for a floral fabric big enough to carry spring.
We found it in a historic shop in the centre of Rome — delicate in tone, generous in pattern.
It was meant for one Easter lunch. It stayed for the whole season.
THE PAIRING
a feast of colors
The print keeps to dusty, powdered tones — the colour of something that has been in the light for a while. Around it, the Angelina napkins answer in the same register: Cassis, Pervinca, Denim, Amber, each with a scalloped edge that is embroidered rather than cut, so the wave stays soft where a hem would be sharp. Nothing on this table is louder than anything else. That is what makes it possible to add one bright thing and have it be seen.
THE EMBROIDERY

Some of the flowers are embroidered directly over the printed ones, in thread chosen to be brighter than anything around it.
They sit a millimetre above the cloth: the relief gives the table three dimensions and brings it to life, and from above the print stops being a pattern — it becomes a garden in flower. The cloth itself is two panels joined down the middle with a flat felled seam, the fabric folded and stitched back onto itself, so it falls without a ridge and the underside is finished like the top.
