our process

IT STARTS WITH A DRAWING

Every collection by La Gallina Matta begins with the hand of Claudia Petruzzi Granato, who draws inspiration from ancient forms and proportions — the gentle curves of old ceramics, the geometry of Renaissance motifs, the balance of classical symmetry. Her designs reinterpret the Italian table tradition through a contemporary lens, guided by an idea of understated, functional elegance.

EMBROIDERY

Once the drawings are complete, they are passed to our atelier in Rome, where artisans translate each line into digital embroidery programs. The motifs are then machine-embroidered directly onto the fabric using the Steil technique: a dense, compact stitch that creates a crisp, decorative edge, ideal for open contours and resistant to fraying.

CUT BY HAND

ONCE EMBROIDERED, EACH PIECE IS HAND-CUT WITH SCISSORS, A GESTURE THAT PRESERVES THE PRECISION AND SENSITIVITY OF ITALIAN CRAFTSMANSHIP, ENSURING A GENUINELY ARTISANAL FINISH.
THE PROCESS CONTINUES WITH METICULOUS QUALITY CONTROL AND FINAL PRESSING, CARRIED OUT WITH THE SAME PRECISION AND CARE THAT DEFINE OUR WORK.
