Folk Animals Raffia draws on the imagery of early twentieth-century circus posters, with embroidered animals rendered in soft, time-worn colours. Set against the rich texture of raffia, these delicate illustrations acquire depth, presence and a distinctly nostalgic charm.
an iconic silhouette
the elegance of parentesi 800
At the heart of the tablescape is the Parentesi Ottocento placemat, one of La Gallina Matta’s earliest and most iconic designs. Its generous silhouette is inspired by an antique nineteenth-century tray and defined by a wide double embroidered border. Its scale allows the entire place setting — plate, cutlery and glasses — to sit comfortably within its shape. Crafted in textured raffia, it gives structure and presence to the table while allowing the softly faded colours of the Folk Animals embroidery to stand out.

tradition, reimagined
The story behind Frou Frou
The Fru Fru napkin reinterprets the traditional punto cavallo, a hand-worked stitch once used on early twentieth-century table linens. Its decorative rhythm is preserved, then translated into a cleaner and more contemporary design.
It reflects a philosophy that runs throughout the collection: rediscovering the great traditions of Italian textile craftsmanship and giving them new life through a modern, more essential language.
