Texture Lobster brings together watercolour, collage and natural texture in a tablescape offered in two distinct interpretations. In one, the print takes centre stage; in the other, it becomes a richly patterned backdrop for the quieter tones of Artichoke and White.
The origin of the design
From newspaper to textile
Texture Lobster originates from an exclusive patchwork artwork created by Claudia Petruzzi, founder of La Gallina Matta. The design is first drawn on newspaper, cut out and mounted onto cardboard before being painted by hand in watercolour. Once complete, the composition is photographed and digitally developed into a textile pattern. Faint pencil lines, brushstrokes and subtle irregularities remain visible in the final print, preserving the character of the original artwork. Traditionally printed on linen, the design is presented on raffia here for the first time, gaining depth against its textured surface.

Two ways to set the table
In the first interpretation, Lobster Krinkle placemats and Angelina napkins bring pattern and colour to the foreground. In the second, the printed raffia tablecloth becomes the foundation, paired with Krinkle placemats and Angelina napkins in Artichoke and White for a quieter, more measured composition. The elaborate silhouette of the Krinkle placemat gives definition to both settings, while its compact proportions allow each element to find its place with ease. Two expressions of the same design: one more vivid, the other more restrained.
