signature tablescape

masquerade

Masquerade brings the spirit of the Commedia dell’Arte to the table through four of its most iconic characters: Pulcinella, Pantalone, Colombina and Arlecchino. Their theatrical energy is balanced by crisp white linen, refined embroidery and the bold colours of the Victoria Queen placemats.

A Venetian discovery

four characters take the stage

Masquerade began with an antique book discovered by chance in a Venetian bookshop. Its watercolour masks inspired a study of the Commedia dell’Arte and its most recognisable characters. Pulcinella, Pantalone, Colombina and Arlecchino were first drawn in pencil, then photographed, digitised and coloured. Preserving their expressions and intricate details in small-scale embroidery required over six weeks of development. The finished motifs appear on pure white linen Doppio Quadro napkins, where their playful character meets the precision of the double embroidered border.

precision in every layer

crafting victoria queen

The Victoria Queen placemats are crafted by layering two pieces of linen, which are embroidered before being carefully cut by hand around both the outer edge and inner frame. This delicate process demands exceptional precision. The contrast between the two fabrics and the embroidery thread creates a rich interplay of colour, giving each combination its distinctive depth. Through this meeting of theatrical imagery and refined craftsmanship, Masquerade transforms the table into an elegant and playful stage.
